Avio

From a quick question to a full finance pack, the answers are already in Avio

Analysis reports from any selection, finance and operational reports ready to run, and Metabase dashboards over your Avio data when you want to build your own.

An Avio analysis report: a list of break-down options grouped by where, who, what and when, with measure, split and chart options and a bar chart of the selection by circulation status

Every publisher has a report someone built years ago that nobody quite trusts. It pulls from an export, gets pasted into a spreadsheet, and the totals never quite match the figures finance have. Then the board asks a slightly different question and the whole thing starts again.

In Avio the reports sit on the same data as everything else. Orders, circulation, renewals, the ledger. So the answer to "how many?" in marketing is the same as the answer in finance.

Analysis reports from any selection

Build an audience in selection and analysis, then turn it into a report in one click. Break it down by:

  • where people are: country, town, postcode area;
  • who they are: organisation, department, job title, how they can be contacted, corporate licence, subscriptions held, lifetime value band;
  • what they hold: title, circulation status, subscription type, access route;
  • when: year or month ordered, year of expiry, first order year.

Then choose what to measure (contacts, subscriptions, copies or value), split by a second dimension if you want, and display it as bars, columns, a donut or a table. Save it, print it or download it as CSV.

So "subscriptions by title, split by country, for readers who first ordered in the last three years" is a few clicks, not a request to IT. Figures like these are also the backbone of an honest media pack, which we've written about in media pack figures advertisers trust.

Finance reports

Finance get their own reports, ready to run. The headline is the month-end pack: a full month-end pack in one run, covering deferred revenue, debtors, bank reconciliation, cash and refunds, and VAT. Each run is saved for audit and downloads as a single zip. It's covered in detail on the finance page.

Alongside it:

  • Cash report: payments and refunds for any date range, optionally by operator.
  • Transaction report: current subscriptions, orders keyed or paid, expiries, credits, suspensions, unpaid orders and linked subscriptions, by product and date.
The Avio transaction report: choose products and one of several report types, then run
The transaction report: pick products and a report type, then run

Operational reports

Some reports are for running the department rather than the business.

  • Contact management: activity by product, operator and type of communication. Useful for seeing how busy the team is and what people are getting in touch about.
  • Products and last orders: what you sell and when each product last sold.
  • Bundle products and prices: what's in each bundle and how it's priced.
  • Users and permissions: an export for security audits, showing who can do what. More on that under security and administration.

Metabase dashboards over your Avio data

The built-in dashboards and reports cover the day-to-day. Some publishers want more: a board pack that updates itself, a chart for a sales meeting, or a way for managers to ask their own questions without learning Avio.

For that, Avio data can be connected to Metabase, a BI tool for dashboards and self-serve questions. Our team sets it up for you, so you get dashboards built around the figures you actually look at. Metabase is optional, and it's available with Adeptis too.

Built by people who've produced these reports for real

Our team has spent decades producing circulation and finance figures for publishers, for audit bodies and for boards. That experience shows in how the reports are laid out. If there's a report you need that Avio doesn't have, tell us. Our in-house UK development team works with AI coding tools under tight human control, so changes ship in days rather than months. There's more on that on how we build.

How it fits with the rest

Reporting draws on everything: orders, renewals, corporate licences and the ledger. Clean data makes better reports, so it's worth a look at data quality too.

Questions

Can we export reports to Excel?

Analysis reports can be saved, printed or downloaded as CSV, which opens in Excel. The month-end pack downloads as a zip.

What is Metabase and do we have to use it?

Metabase is a BI tool for dashboards and self-serve questions. It's optional: our team can connect your Avio data to it if you want dashboards of your own.

Can we report on who did what in the team?

Yes. The contact management report shows activity by product, operator and type of communication.

Is there a report for security audits?

Yes. The users and permissions report exports who can do what, ready for an audit.
