Media pack figures worked out from your live data

Adeptis works out the numbers you sell on from live circulation and email data, lays them out in your pack's own order, and shows where every figure came from.

The Adeptis media pack screen for one title, with print run and digital readership controls, a note on how the run is filled, and headline magazine figures for print and digital

Ask where a number in a typical media pack came from and you'll often get a shrug. It was in last year's pack, someone added a bit, and nobody quite remembers whether digital readers who also get print were counted once or twice.

Advertisers notice. The Adeptis media pack generator takes the figures you sell on and works them out from your live circulation and email data, in your pack's own order and wording. And it shows its working, so anyone can see where each number came from.

The figures, in your pack's order

The media pack screen lists every headline figure the pack prints, in the order the brochure uses:

  • Print and digital circulation combined, plus print per issue and digital per issue.
  • E-newsletter reach and third-party e-blast reach.
  • Website visitors and social followers.
  • Demographic breakdowns, such as company activity, job function, company size and geography.

Each section carries a short note on how it's worked out, in plain English. When a colleague asks "what does this figure actually mean?", the answer is on the page.

Where each number comes from

Circulation figures come straight from your circulation records. Email reach comes from live list membership in the data synced from your email platform, so it reflects who actually gets sent the newsletter.

Website and social figures are different. They're entered by your team and shown with their source, rather than presented as if they were counted automatically. We'd rather be clear about that than pretend otherwise, and so would your advertisers.

The print run is a decision you make, not a fact about your audience. Set the print run per issue and Adeptis works down the eligible pool in priority order until the run is filled, then tells you exactly where it was cut off.

You also choose how digital readers are counted, for example circulation records only. Change a setting, press Apply, and every figure below updates to match.

The audit view

Behind the pack sits a working-figures view. For each title it shows every figure with its value and its source, side by side.

Working figures: every number with its source
  • Circulation is de-duplicated across print and digital, so a reader who takes both is counted once.
  • Print-pool tables show who's eligible and in what order.
  • A "what's still missing" list shows any figure that hasn't been supplied yet, so gaps are visible before the pack goes out rather than after.

If an advertiser, an agency or your own MD asks how you got to a number, you can show them.

Export and share

When the figures are right, export them to CSV or save the page as a PDF for the designer. Because the pack is worked out from live data, next year's starts from where you are now, not from last year's file.

How it fits with the rest

The media pack draws on almost everything else in Adeptis. Circulation comes from the records behind the Circulation Age report, demographic breakdowns come from the questions you define there, and email reach comes from the same synced data as email insight. The figures then support what you sell in advertising.

Questions

Is every figure in the pack worked out automatically?

Circulation and email figures are worked out from live data. Website and social figures are entered by your team and shown with their source, so it's always clear which is which.

Does it count readers who take print and digital twice?

No. Total circulation is de-duplicated across print and digital, so a reader who takes both is counted once.

Can we get the pack out of Adeptis?

Yes. Export the figures to CSV or save the page as a PDF.

Is this the same as an ABC certificate?

No. An ABC certificate comes from an independent audit. The media pack uses the same live records, and our audit preparation team can help with the certificate side.
