Adeptis

Publish once to a family of news sites

A multi-site news CMS built into the same system as your readers and advertisers, with scheduling, SEO and rich media built in.

The Adeptis news stories list with search and filters for website, category, author and status, and rows showing thumbnail, headline, company, websites, categories, tags, author, date and published status, with headlines and images blurred

If you publish more than one title, you probably know the routine. A login for each website, the same story pasted into two of them, a different image crop for each, and no way of telling which site the readers actually came from.

Adeptis has a multi-site news CMS built in. Write a story once, choose where it goes, and it sits in the same database as your readers, advertisers and companies. That last part matters more than it sounds: tag a company in a story and it turns up on that company's record for your sales team.

The stories list

Every story across every site, in one list. Filter by site, category, author and status (published, scheduled or expired), or search by headline. Each row shows the thumbnail, headline, company, sites, categories, tags, author, date and status, plus views and clicks, so you can see what's working without opening a separate analytics tool.

A story editor built for news

The editor is organised in tabs (Details, Placement, Companies, Media, SEO and Carousel) so a quick news item stays quick and a big feature has room for everything.

The Adeptis story editor with tabs for details, placement, companies, media, SEO and carousel, a headline panel with title, slug and author, a publishing panel with publish and expiry dates, external and YouTube links, a teaser box and the rich-text body editor
The story editor: headline, publishing, teaser and body
  • Rich text that behaves. The body uses CKEditor 5, which cleans up text pasted from Word, so you don't inherit someone's fonts and stray formatting.
  • Slugs that don't clash. The slug fills in from the headline and is checked to make sure it's unique.
  • Scheduling and embargoes. Set a future publish date and the story stays under wraps until then. Add an expiry date if it should come down again.
  • Multi-site placement. Choose which of your sites the story appears on.
  • Company tagging. Link the companies a story mentions, and it shows on their record in the CRM.
  • Images. A lead image with crop, plus carousel images.
  • SEO. Meta description, keywords and print-edition flags on their own tab.
  • Extras. A teaser or standfirst, an external link and a YouTube link.

Per-article reports

Every story has its own report: all-time and monthly views and link clicks, with unique counts. Staff traffic is excluded, so the editor refreshing a page twenty times doesn't count as a readership surge.

It's the same approach as the advertising reports, which means editorial and commercial teams are looking at numbers counted the same way.

Digital editions and the supporting content

News sites need more than news. The content section also covers newsletters, key contacts and third-party events, plus a list of digital editions with cover, title, site, date and link.

If you'd like the editions themselves produced for you, our digital editions service builds page-turning editions with FlippingBook, and they can then be listed here like any other.

Does it run our websites?

The CMS feeds a family of news sites, with stories, editions, newsletters and events all coming from Adeptis. Every publisher's websites are set up a bit differently, so the honest answer is that we'll talk through yours in a demo and show you how it would fit.

How it fits with the rest

The same sites carry your advertising, scheduled and reported from the same system. Site traffic per title shows on the dashboard, and online subscription orders from your sites come into subscriptions and renewals for approval. The company tags you add here are what fill the Articles tab on each company record.

This is one of the areas where Adeptis goes further than Avio. Avio, for larger publishers and groups, concentrates on subscriptions, circulation and finance. If you want content, audience and advertising in one place, that's Adeptis. Avio or Adeptis has the full comparison.

Questions

Can one story appear on more than one of our sites?

Yes. Placement is set per story, so you write it once and choose which sites it goes on.

Can we schedule or embargo stories?

Yes. A future publish date embargoes the story until then, and an optional expiry date takes it down again.

Will our own staff inflate the article stats?

No. Staff traffic is excluded from the per-article report.

Does Adeptis run our public websites?

The CMS feeds a family of news sites. Every publisher's set-up is different, so we'll talk through yours in a demo.

Do you produce digital editions as well?

Adeptis keeps the list of editions your sites show. If you want the editions themselves made, our digital editions service builds them with FlippingBook.
